Wordless Wednesday ~ w Linky

October 2,2013

I am fortunate to live in a city that is steeped in history. I love the architecture in old cities and this one does not disappoint.

Sometimes, however, I wonder what was on the mind of the architect when this lovely door was hung.

Great detail in the panels of the door, but looks like the steps were forgotten!!

Stepping back a bit we see the  bigger picture. Boy, I sure hope no one sleep walks and takes a step out that door as the first step would be ..... hmmm, what word would you use??!!

  2. I guess they didn't want a window, but it does look odd, and I prefer natural light, so windows are a must. Thanks for the fun of the photos! - Amanda's Books and More

  5. I see it as the original window got broken, and they had a door but no money to buy a new window. The door was the best way to replace the window.

  13. It is a very cool looking door. It almost looks like there may have been a porch (or whatever it would be called) right there. I'm looking at the white-ish line under the door. Hope it is blocked from the inside now though

  15. Looks strange but interesting at the same time. Wonder if they wanted it as a single story building, but changed their mind at some point.
